Moblan project
The project
In a joint venture with SOQUEM, Sayona acquired a 60% majority of the Moblan project, which is located in a world-class lithium-rich mining province in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region, in September 2021. Sayona is proud of this new investor-backed project, which gives it another boost to ensure that Quebec can meet the growing demand for lithium in North America.
In keeping with its commitment to sustainable development, Sayona, in close collaboration with SOQUEM, remains in consistent contact with community members, such as First Nations and other stakeholders. Sayona works hard to ensure everyone benefits from the project, in particular by creating jobs and making investments that will breathe life into Quebec’s clean energy sector, from mining to electric vehicle production.

Key points
Lithium was first found on the Moblan property in the 1970s and drilling first took place in 2007.
Several meetings have been held with local communities.
The site’s deposit has a world-class grade of lithium oxide (1.4% Li2O) and a low waste to ore ratio of 2.9:1.

Ongoing drilling campaign
Sayona is currently conducting the 2023 drilling campaign in collaboration with SOQUEM to more precisely determine the amount of lithium on the property. Work is well underway: more than 14,000 metres have been drilled since the beginning of the year out of a target of approximately 60,000 metres by the end of 2023.
